The normal tactic for selling a new wheelset is to emphasize how much more of something it provides: more stiffness, more durability, more aerodynamics, more sex appeal, whatever. It's a defensible tactic, and one we've used ourselves.

But with the FSW CX, we're going to sell you less. Less of the one thing that matters above all else in a cyclocross wheelset. The FSW CX provides you with less tire pressure. It has nothing to do with our wheelset in particular, and everything to do with tubulars in general. Tubulars allow you to run lower tire pressure for handling that is microtuned to the day's conditions, without the fear of pinch flats that occur with clinchers.

Better traction is a competitive advantage. For some, it means you'll open gaps in technical sections as you carve confidently through the best lines. For others, you'll cling to wheels that would otherwise escape you. And for a few of you, it means you'll be able to take beer and sausage handups at 28 PSI instead of the 36 PSI you rolled last year.

While the lower tire pressure is a general benefit of cyclocross tubulars, there are also some specific benefits to ours. The Velocity Major Tom rim is 23mm wide, a meaningful differentiator over more common 19mm width found in alloy tubulars. Similar in function to wider road clinchers, the width improves the tire's ability to find traction. The Major Tom rim also has a seam relief channel - a groove down the center that your tire seam sits in neatly, allowing for more consistent tire installation.

Like all November wheelsets, the FSW CXs are made with rims, hubs and spokes that have passed strict EN testing, and are hand-built to draconian trueness, roundness and tension standards right here in the U.S.
